We are launching Flocknote and Word on Fire Engage for the St Edwards community.
For those of you that haven’t heard of Flocknote before, Flocknote is an online tool that gives Parish members who sign-up to it the opportunity to stay informed and receive email updates about parish news, ministries, content and special events. It’s a wonderful way to stay connected to the parish.
In addition, by signing-up to Flocknote parish members also have access for free to the full library of short films, videos and courses produced by Bishop Barron & Word on Fire Catholic Ministries.
Many of you will know who Bishop Barron is, but for those who don’t, Bishop Barron, after the Pope, is the most followed Catholic in the world online. He is the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of LA. He is a gifted writer, theologian and speaker. He is a #1 Amazon bestselling author, a religion correspondent for the NBC and is regularly invited to Facebook, Amazon and Google to give talks on Catholicism and religion.
Bishop Barron is also the founder of Word on Fire Catholic Ministries which is a global media ministry and through this, has produced a library of first class short films, videos and courses on Catholicism and its many facets.
These videos are informative, they are challenging and they are inspiring. Many people have described them as the most engaging Catholic videos they have ever seen. Some of them have even been Emmy-nominated they are that good!
And now, parish members who sign-up to Flocknote, have access to them for free.
It’s a wonderful way for parishioners to enrich their faith and deepen their knowledge of Catholicism. With over 2000 years of history and tradition, there is just so much to learn about in our faith, and be inspired by, and these films from Word on Fire really do bring it to life.
Now, I should also mention that when parishioners sign-up to Flocknote, their personal information is safe and secure. And you can unsubscribe from any updates at any time!
Sign up process (call to action)
I invite you to consider going online now and signing-up to Flocknote.
The web address is https://stedwardsdaisyhill.flocknote.com/
Input your name, email address and phone number. Next, Flocknote will ask you what groups you’d like to receive updates from. You can control which groups you want to be part of.
Currently, you have the option to receive updates from three groups being:
We anticipate that over the next few months, new groups may also be added, such as for our Men’s Group, Care & Concern and so on. So watch this space if you’d like to consider signing up to these as well.
Once you’ve made your selection, Flocknote will send you a confirmation email to verify your signing-up. Make sure you do this so that your registration is complete.
Now Mums and Dads, husbands and wives, you may be thinking, should we both sign up? Well the choice is yours, but there are real benefits if you to. If will give you the option to view the Word on Fire content that you are personally interested in. For example, Mums, you may wish to view the Catholicism series, produced by veteran NBC Today Show Correspondent Mike Leonard. Dads, you may be interested in the Emmy nominated Pivotal Players, a series on figures who have shaped the Church and changed the world, such as St Thomas Aquinas, St Catherine of Sienna and Michelangelo.
What happens next (what to expect)
After you have signed up to Parish News or Faith Enrichment, you will start to receive content from the Parish about once a fortnight. So folks, the Parish isn’t going to overload you with emails. We all understand what it’s like to have a full inbox and we certainly don’t intend on adding to that.
And after you’ve signed up, you can also view all of the Word on Fire content via their website or app. You can even stream it through your TV.
The Word on Fire Digital app is my personal favourite. I find it easiest to view and enjoy the content.
Word on Fire also ministers through its YouTube Channel, Facebook, Twitter and other social media. So you can subscribe to those communities as well if you want.
Simply download the Word on Fire Digital app from the App Store and enter your email address and password from your signup today. The apps tell you how to do this. You’ll be up and running in seconds!
Thank you this is really going to simplify communication and increase engagement here in our community.
We hope you enjoy this new service and all of the Word on Fire content.

- St Edward’s Parish News - which includes updates on the many ministries and special events in our parish;
- Faith Enrichment - which includes scheduled content from Bishop Barron & Word on Fire. Each email is fortnightly and it includes a short 5-10 minute video – just short enough to watch between meetings, on the bus or train to work, or in drive-through line of an afternoon; and
- Youth United – which includes information about our Parish youth group gatherings and events.
